How to do a Radio Public Service Announcement (PSA):
|
In 1990, there were 11 potential caregivers for each person needing care. In 2050,
it is estimated to be only 4 people to help those that need it.
|
What — A PSA is a brief script provided to radio stations for announcers to read on
the air for free. Radio stations are required, by federal regulations, to run a certain
number of PSA’s every day for not-for-profit organizations. Be sure yours is one of them.
How — Customize the PSA, if appropriate, with you organization’s name and information.

When — Send out in a timely manner — November is not that far away. If it is a generic PSA for NFC Month, send it out again the last week of October. If it is specific to an event you are planning, send it out again one week before your event.
Where — Develop a mailing list for the radio stations in your area. You can find this
information on city’s web site or city media directories of the yellow pages. Address all
envelopes or emails to “Calendar Editors Public Service Announcement.”
